This past week was, for the most part, uneventful. It’s been really hot here in North Carolina and the entire week it was threatening to rain, yet except for some thunder and lightning on Wednesday night and maybe a little bit of drizzle while we were sleeping, it never did rain. So with the humidity built up to a breaking point, my back has been sore and stiff pretty much every day. Other than that, the week was fairly ordinary. So with that said here is the next installment of Sunday’s Stitches & Stuff. (more…)

WIP Wednesday – Happily Ever After SAL & Year of Celebrations, April
Yeah, it’s Wednesday! Not only is it a day to share our WIPs, but I am one day closer to an unexpected day off. As of right now I have no work scheduled for Friday, and if I don’t get a call for an evaluation or to assist another therapist, then I’m going to have all day Friday to do whatever I want! Not sure exactly what I’m going to put on the agenda, but fully finishing some stitched pieces is at the top of that list, as is, clearing out and organizing my shed. As far as stitching goes, this week I’ve been working on two projects, (more…)

Sunday’s Stitches & Stuff – Episode 8
This week was busy, productive and peaceful. Despite the non-stop rain, the animals still got plenty of attention and exercise, using my kitchen as an indoor play yard. The house is clean and still standing, so that’s a bonus. Also, I’ve been getting around to a few house projects that laid on the back burner for far too long. Now that the weather is getting nicer, I will have plenty to do outside, until it gets too hot, then I’ll switch back to inside projects and the joys of air conditioning. Other than a few errands that needed running, this week was fairly quiet, which means I had plenty of time for stitching and reading! So here’s my week… (more…)

Basic Introduction to Doctor Who Caution: This Post is not for Whovians
Today is Saturday and Saturday for me usually means Doctor Who. For two reasons: one, typically I do my big weekly chores on Saturday, and when I do I play Doctor Who in the background and two, when it’s in season, Saturday means I get a new episode!
The past couple of weekends, however, have been filled with other activities including the dentist, traveling up north to visit family, and even a Saturday where I ended up working. While all those activities are important in their own right, it has left me without my weekly dose of the Doctor, as well as falling behind on the current season. Today, though, there is only one thing on the schedule, which means I should be able to get some much-needed housework done and can carve out some time to get caught up on the current season. (more…)

Book Review: Behind Her Eyes
Behind Her Eyes by Sarah Pinborough
My rating: 5 of 5 starsThis book was chosen by my mystery book club for our read this month. The first 150 pages, I started off thinking it was an interesting and intriguing story of deceit, betrayal, and mystery. Shortly after that I was certain I knew exactly where the story was going and what “Adele” was going to do in order to resolve the issues in her view of life. However the last 20 pages had me standing on my feet screaming at the book, saying “What! What! Where did that come from?!” I think it’s safe to say that this is the best book I’ve read this year so far.

WIP Wednesday – Happily Ever After SAL
Let’s just pretend like it hasn’t been two months since I posted a WIP Wednesday post, or any post for that matter. Let’s just move on and proceed as if no hiatus occurred, okay? Good. Moving on…

WIP Wednesday – Year Of Celebrations, March
This week I am working on another installment of the Year of Celebrations series, published by Cross Stitch & Needlework Magazine and designed by Cathy Habermas. (The February and March motifs are in the March 2014 issue.) For this series I started with the February motif and was able to stitch that up in a week’s time, check out this post to see how it turned out.
This week I’m going to try to complete the March motif, and possibly have it fully finished before the end of the month. (more…)

Sunday Stitches & Stuff – Spring Quilt, Grime Gaurds, & Doctor Who Countdown
As I shared on Wednesday, it had been a bit since I posted anything, but thankfully I am much better and back to my regularly scheduled program, including a Sunday Stitches & Stuff post! Originally, I thought maybe I would do a three week update, but that would be a long post, so I am just gonna pick things up with this past week and move forward from there. Additionally, I am experimenting with a new format for the Sunday Stitches post, so I am going to give that a try this week. So with no further ado let’s take a look at my week. (more…)

WIP Wednesday – Happily Everafter SAL & Spring Seasonal Quilt
Gosh, it’s been two weeks since I’ve posted anything! My how time can get away from you, especially when illness and injuries are involved. Things started 2 weeks ago with a mild sinus irritation, that lead to some type of bug, then allergy season began, and this past weekend was a pretty bad flare up of my chronic back injury. Thankfully, I am feeling better and have started to get back into my normal routines again. The only good part about all the sickness and stuff, was that I spent a lot of time sitting on my heating pad and stitching! So today I have two updates to share, progress on my Happily Ever After SAL and my Spring Seasonal Quilt. (more…)

WIP Wednesday – Happily Everafter SAL
This week I am attempting to make progress on my Happily Everafter SAL.

It’s only been 2 weeks since I worked on this project, in fact I have two other projects, plus my knitting, that should have been next in the rotation, but the February pattern was released this month and I haven’t even finished January, so I want to see how much I can get done this week, then I’ll pull one of the other projects. Plus, (more…)
